The French composer and sound designer Paul Roux has been crafting elegant electronic compositions over the last few years, be it solo productions, or as one half of Memorial Home, noted for a run of singles and a 2019 album that explored experimental techno and introspective electronica. Roux’s solo work is perhaps pointed more towards the dancefloor, with releases for Arts, Apex Faction and We Are The Brave already under his belt.
On ‘Bapteme’, Roux establishes an emotionally charged tone for this single on R&S Records. A sturdy breakbeat and skittish bass riff hold down the fort whilst a soaring lead guitar ascends, soaked in reverb and accompanied by lone piano keys, all wrapped comfortable wall of ambience that pulls all these elements together. Melancholic but towering with positivity, ‘Bapteme’ bridges the styles of indietronica and electronica with ease.
Delightfully manic dance music from British producer Patrick Tipler where worked-up rhythms collide with high-intensity synths. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 4, 2021
